There was a man in the Bible named Gideon. An angel of the Lord spoke to Gideon and began by saying, "The Lord is with you, mighty man of valor!" Now Gideon didn't feel like a mighty man of valor. He was down on the threshing floor trying to make ends meet, trying to do what he was supposed to do. I can imagine him looking up and thinking, "Are you talking to me?" He thought, "I'm not a mighty man of valor." He might have replied, "Don't you know that my family is the weakest family in Manasseh? And on top of that, I'm the weakest in my family!"
Have you ever felt like Gideon? I know I've heard myself saying, "Me God? I don't think so. I'm not qualified; You have to go find someone else." It's easy to use our weakness as an excuse and say, "No God, You've got the wrong person. I can't do this." But I'm glad that Gideon didn't pass on what God was saying. He found strength as he yielded himself to Almighty God.
You may be standing in the face of something thinking, "This is too difficult for me." But I want you to take hold of the truth that God arms you with strength for every battle you are going through. He's not asked you to face life alone. He says I'll never leave you nor forsake you. He is with you! He said to Joshua, as I was with Moses, so I'll be with you. He's saying that to us today. If you need to, write that down and meditate on it. Declare, "He is strengthening me. He is causing me to overcome." God always asks us to stretch beyond our own ability and lean into His ability. Call on Him, depend on Him, and take life one day at a time.
Are you going through a hard time and want to give up? You don't have to find your strength for next year; all you have to do is find your strength for today! Stand tall with your head held high because you are a mighty one with Him!" And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, 'The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!'" (Judges 6:12, NKJV)
