Are You Wearing the Right Shoes?
By Victoria Osteen - May 25, 2021
Do you feel as though you don't have the strength to overcome a challenge you're facing? Or perhaps you feel that the task at hand is way beyond your abilities, and you're wondering why you're even trying to do it. You may have put in for a promotion at work, but you're unsure whether you can handle it. And yet you hear a voice inside saying, "There's more in store for you. You can do this." It's always pushing you, but too often you push back because it's the comfortable thing to do, and you let it pass.

Here's the good news. God says, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). That means that whatever you're facing today, God is saying, "My grace and strength are sufficient for today. I've already equipped you with everything you need to do what I'm calling you to do." He put abilities in you that you don't know are there. Don't shrink back and think you don't have the talent--it's already there. God says, "Let him take hold of My strength" (Isaiah 27:5), and His strength will empower you in your weakness.

You've probably heard Joel say, "I never knew this was in me," referring to his ability to minister after his father passed away. He'd worked behind the scenes at the church for seventeen years and was comfortable doing it. I'll never forget his first sermon and how weak he felt. I was sitting on the edge of my seat and praying, "God, give Joel everything You have," when I saw that he was wearing his father's shoes. Now, Joel wasn't wearing his father's shoes to try to fill them; he was wearing his father's shoes to draw strength from them--the strength his father had ministered in. Joel never dreamed he'd be in the position he was in, but he found strength in his father's shoes.

I want you to translate that image to your own life. We all need to walk in our heavenly Father's shoes. He's going to call you to do things that are way over your head. God wants you to go beyond your ability and what you think you can do and tap into His ability. Don't shrink back. Don't put limitations on yourself. You have exactly what you need. There's gold inside you, but the only way it's going to come out is if you stand strong and you find it, because God is your confidence. Just slip those shoes on and say, "God, it's You and me. When I'm weak, You're strong. We're a majority. We can do this together." Take this step of faith and do it!
